Viðfangsefni þessa Vísindaskóla er þróun!
Þróun lífvera hefur átt sér stað frá upphafi lífs á Jörðinni og við erum því líklega öll komin af sömu frumunni, jafnvel þeirri fyrstu.
Við munum fjalla um náttúruval og hvað átt er við þegar sagt er að „hinir hæfustu lifi af“.

Að lokum förum við í skemmtilegt spil sem hjálpar okkur að átta okkur betur á uppruna okkar og setur þróun lífvera í samhengi við ævi Jarðar!

Í Vísindaskóla Náttúrufræðistofu Kópavogs þarf ekki að sækja um inngöngu heldur bara mæta! Fræðslan fer fram í opnum viðburðum þar sem við og fræðumst um náttúruna með lifandi kennslu. Þar fá öll fræðast, gera tilraunir og draga ályktanir.
Vísindaskólinn hentar vel börnum á aldrinum 8 -12 ára, en öllum forvitnum er velkomið að mæta. Viðburðurinn fer fram í Tilraunastofunni innst í Náttúrufræðistofu Kópavogs og varir frá kl. 16:30-17:15.

The subject of the month Science School is evolution!
The evolution of organisms has taken place since the origin of life on Earth, and we are therefore probably all descended from the same cell—perhaps even the very first one.
We will discuss natural selection and what is meant by the phrase “the survival of the fittest.”

Finally, we’ll play a fun game that helps us better understand our origins and places the evolution of life in the context of Earth’s lifetime!

At the Science School of the Natural History Museum of Kópavogur, there is no need to apply for admission – you just show up! The teaching takes place in open events where we learn about nature through engaging, hands-on instruction. Everyone gets to become a researcher, explore, experiment, and draw conclusions.
The Science School is suitable for children ages 8–12, but all curious minds are welcome. The event takes place in the laboratory at the back of the Natural History Museum of Kópavogur and lasts from 16:30 to 17:15
