Kóðinn í okkur - DNA

Að þessu sinni ætlum við að fræðast um kóðann í okkur - DNA. Öll berum við í okkur efni sem geymir uppskriftina af okkur - kóðann okkar. Afkomendur okkar fá svo afrit af honum og þannig erfast eiginleikar okkar og til komandi kynslóða. Við munum leitast við að svara spurningum eins og: Hvað er erfðaefnið DNA og hvernig virkar það? Hvar og hvenær varð það til og eru kannski allar lífverur á jörðinni skildar?

Í lok tímans fá nemendur að einangra sitt eigið DNA og taka það með sér heim.

Í Vísindaskóla Náttúrufræðistofu Kópavogs þarf ekki að sækja um inngöngu heldur bara mæta! Fræðslan fer fram í opnum viðburðum þar sem við og fræðumst um náttúruna með lifandi kennslu. Þar fá öll að gerast rannsakendur, fræðast, gera tilraunir og draga ályktanir.

Vísindaskólinn hentar börnum 8 -12 ára, en öllum forvitnum er velkomið að mæta. Viðburðurinn fer fram í tilraunastofunni innst í Náttúrufræðistofu Kópavogs og varir frá kl. 16:30-17:15.

This time we will be learning about the code inside us – DNA. We all carry within us the substance that holds the recipe for who we are – our code. Our descendants then receive a copy of it, and in this way our traits are passed down to future generations. We will seek to answer questions such as: What is the genetic material DNA and how does it work? Where and when did it originate, and are perhaps all living beings on Earth related?

At the end of the session, students will get to isolate their own DNA and take it home with them.

At the Science School of the Natural History Museum of Kópavogur, there is no need to apply for admission – you just show up! The teaching takes place in open events where we learn about nature through engaging, hands-on instruction. Everyone gets to become a researcher, explore, experiment, and draw conclusions.

The Science School is suitable for children ages 8–12, but all curious minds are welcome. The event takes place in the laboratory at the back of the Natural History Museum of Kópavogur and lasts from 16:30 to 17:15.
